“We did an 1100 square foot addition to our over 100 year old farmhouse with a lot of porch and deck square footage on top of that. It was very important to us that it did not look like an addition and matched the old charm of our home.
Remnant Architecture drew our vision and then recommended Forks River as we were seeking a contractor who was familiar with old homes, but also couldn’t spend a small fortune on the big name around Knoxville.
It was not an easy project due to the age of our home and the fact that it isn’t quite level or square. We also asked for some unusual things like “messy” brick mortar to match our old fireplace.
We have a toddler and had another baby during this renovation, which is not something I’d recommend in hindsight, but we are so happy we got it done so that we can enjoy it now with them both.
The most important parts of this review:
1. We are incredibly happy with the finished product. No one can tell what is old and what is new, and it is beautiful and functional.
2. We trust Matt (general contractor). He is kind, friendly, and started to feel like part of the family. My toddler loves him. Anytime something was not perfect, it was fixed.
3. Our project was completed pretty close to the amount in the project proposal.
In short, I would recommend Forks River, especially if you are adding onto an old home and need it done right.”
