“We did an 1100 square foot addition to our over 100 year old farmhouse with a lot of porch and deck square footage on top of that. It was very important to us that it did not look like an addition and matched the old charm of our home.

Remnant Architecture drew our vision and then recommended Forks River as we were seeking a contractor who was familiar with old homes, but also couldn’t spend a small fortune on the big name around Knoxville.

It was not an easy project due to the age of our home and the fact that it isn’t quite level or square. We also asked for some unusual things like “messy” brick mortar to match our old fireplace.

We have a toddler and had another baby during this renovation, which is not something I’d recommend in hindsight, but we are so happy we got it done so that we can enjoy it now with them both.

The most important parts of this review:
1. We are incredibly happy with the finished product. No one can tell what is old and what is new, and it is beautiful and functional.
2. We trust Matt (general contractor). He is kind, friendly, and started to feel like part of the family. My toddler loves him. Anytime something was not perfect, it was fixed.
3. Our project was completed pretty close to the amount in the project proposal.

In short, I would recommend Forks River, especially if you are adding onto an old home and need it done right.”

“Forks River completed a pretty thorough renovation of our front porch and the front facade of our house, including adding a massive amount of insulation to a 1930 house that didn't have very much if any of it! They did this in the midst of the worst snow storm and winter weather we have had in Knoxville in 30 years! The team was incredibly supportive and responsive, from the front office to the onsite crew. Our site manager, Bryce, was amazing - I think I spoke with him almost every morning for 5 weeks and he was great to work with. We are very happy with the job they did, and very pleased with the result; I recommend them highly!”

Forks River did a full kitchen renovation as well as some random jobs around the house for us. The quality of their work is impeccable. The entire team (Kathryn, Matt, Brandon and more) was super professional and did everything possible to meet our needs. We wish there was a little more communication when it came to supply chain delays and edits to the timeline, but we highly recommend Forks River to anyone looking for any construction or remodeling needs.

Forks River is absolutely an amazing team. Hands down the best in Knoxville. I’ve used many other company’s beforehand and it was a horrible experience. Kathryn and Matt are such a pleasure to work with. They listened to what my needs and wants were and they delivered. They have awesome team that are very highly skilled and they answered all my questions that I had. This is my second time using them and it won’t be my last. They re did a lot of work to my outdoor patio that the previous contractor screwed up on. Nothing was to code with my previous contractor. Thanks to Forks River everything is to code and remodel to my liking. We can finally sit back and enjoy it.

We used Forks River to add a large screened porch to our existing home, and we could not have been more thrilled with their work. From the initial call and throughout each stage of the process they were responsive, professional, and competent, not to mention being truly delightful people. Their bid was detailed and clear, as were all plans, materials lists, and billing. Their architect provided a creative solution to a difficult roof tie-in, and Kathryn was available throughout the build for any questions. Matt was on-site whenever needed if complications arose (like the unexpected discovery of an old septic tank) and resolved them rapidly and competently.

The entire work crew was amazing. They showed up promptly at 8 am and worked steadily through the day, every day, unless it was hopelessly pouring rain, always good-natured and generally just pleasant folks to have around your home. Dan, the team leader, was experienced, knowledgeable, and steady. He offered ideas that added practicality and nice finishes that enhanced the livability and esthetic of the project. Josh was available for back-up when there was a post-project repair and resolved the issue promptly. And kudos as well to Rob and Jacob, the rest of the crew. They are hard-working and great assets to the team.

The project was undertaken and completed on the schedule outlined at the front end with no unnecessary delays or hidden or unexpected costs. When a post-completion modification was needed (a minor roof leak), they were there to address it literally within a few hours of my call. These folks take their work and their client relationships seriously. They deliver what they promise and stay with it until it is right. We recommend them enthusiastically and without reservation.
